Birkenstock
Birkenstock's mission: "soft style, strong statement". And what could be stronger or more powerful than a brand that promotes its followers’ well-being? Far from a novice in the field, the German label has been around for nearly 250 years, at our feet generation after generation. It all started in 1774 in Hesse, a region that is now located in Germany, at a time when wearing shoes was all about comfort and protecting the feet. Over the centuries at Birkenstock, the art of practical footwear has been passed down and evolved, culminating in the design of its signature "foot bed" in the 1930s. This foot bed was unique at the time because it took into account the shape and movement of the foot in the shoe. Inspired by a footprint in the sand, it has an anatomical shape that allows it to support the foot and therefore guarantee comfort to anyone wearing a Birkenstock shoe, even after hours of walking. Guaranteeing the correct position of the heel, the arch of the foot and the toes, the Birkenstock sole is the result of a perpetual quest for innovation. Made up of various layers of jute, cork and natural latex, and covered with suede leather, it is sometimes even enhanced with an additional layer of foam. Comfortable and insulating, the Birkenstock shoe provides balance, protects the feet from potential impact, heat and cold, and has now found its place at the forefront of fashion, too. Effortless and universal, in a two or three-strap sandal version or clog, it is a must-have for holidays as well as day-to-day wear. The Arizona sandals pair perfectly with flowing trousers or linen shorts for summer, while the clogs can stay on your feet until autumn, worn over comfy socks and under jeans. Both outdoor shoes and indoor slippers, we’d all be lost without our Birkenstocks.
