Veja
A pioneer and recognised leader in eco-responsible footwear, the VEJA brand was created in 2005 at the initiative of Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion. Unable to stand idly by in the face of an impending ecological crisis - a crisis largely due to widespread overconsumption and unethical production practices - they decided to bet everything on a bold and committed business model. Fast forward a few years, and VEJA has become the benchmark for green-minded brands, with its B Corp certification attesting to its positive social and environmental impact. A French success story par excellence, the famous V brand is loaded with purpose and full of good intentions. VEJA uses sustainably sourced materials, vegan wherever possible, and manufactures its sneakers in Brazilian factories, where workers' rights are respected and closely monitored. Its fabrics and laces are made from organic cotton grown in Brazil and Peru, while its soles are made from rubber from the Amazon. But given the urgency of the current climate situation, VEJA is not stopping there: not only does it use innovative materials made from recycled polyesters and bottles, it has been busy developing C.W.L. – a vegan alternative to leather made up of a cotton canvas covered with a coating made from corn oil. VEJA has made its name by championing social projects, economic justice and ecological materials, all despite the undeniably risky gamble of refusing to advertise, in a bid to reduce its costs.
Word of mouth from customers turned out to be more than sufficient, with the universal design and impressive values of their VEJA sneakers ensuring the brand's success. The Minautor, V-10, V-15 and Venturi have quickly established themselves as THE trainers to wear, in the week as well as on weekends, in the office and around the city. VEJA's flagship model, the Campo sneaker, is the perfect city shoe, with clean lines that work with all outfits and lifestyles.
